Helmut Marko makes confident Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes prediction for Saudi Arabia GP

“We know from Hamilton that his Brazil engine has now run about 400 kilometres,” Marko told Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf. “And the degradation of that engine is high.”

Marko added: “That rocket will not have as much power in the coming races as it did at Interlagos, we think.”

Despite team principal Wolff believing Mercedes made the engine change in Brazil due to reliability concerns, Mercedes trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin felt that wasn’t the case.

“There wasn’t a technical reason to change, as in we didn’t think that we were at risk of failing and we don’t think that we’re at risk of failing,” Shovlin explained. “Although, you know, these power units are running awfully hard and you can never, never take reliability for granted.
