Katie Hobbs Celebrates Victory in Arizona Governor’s Race

Arizona’s Governor-Elect Katie Hobbs, a Democrat, celebrated her electoral victory at a rally in Phoenix, Arizona, on Tuesday, November 15, during which she thanked Arizonans and told them they had chosen “unity over division.” The Associated Press called the race for Hobbs on Monday, nearly a week after election day. Hobbs’s opponent, the Republican candidate Kari Lake, is a former TV news anchor who was backed by former president Donald Trump and promoted his evidence-free claim that the 2020 presidential election was fraudulent. After her defeat, Lake tweeted: “Arizonans know BS when they see it.” Hobbs is the fifth woman to be elected governor in Arizona. Credit: Katie Hobbs via Storyful
