Aylmer Police are investigating an animal cruelty complaint after four dead ducks were found on Dufferin Street in the small town on Friday.
Police received the complaint on Sept. 16 at about 7:50 a.m. when a 32-year-old man said he found the ducks strategically placed approximately 35 to 50 feet apart with what appeared to be broken necks, police said.
The area was canvassed for video surveillance and information, police said.
“Obviously, it causes some concern,” said Kyle Johnstone, Aylmer police’s deputy chief.
“Nobody likes to see intentional criminal acts like this carried out,” he said. “It’s unfortunate and it’s something that we’re putting a lot of time and resources into, and we will do what we can to try and identify the person responsible.”
Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Aylmer Police at 519-773-3146. To submit an anonymous tip, contact Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.stthomascrimestoppers.ca.
