Kevin Spacey’s 2023 Schedule: Sexual Misconduct Trial, Lifetime Achievement Award

Kevin Spacey, who has been accused by more than 30 men of sexual misconduct, will accept an in-person lifetime achievement award next year, multiple outlets report.

The two-time Oscar winner is set to be bestowed with the Stella Della Mole Award at Italy’s National Museum of Cinema in Turin. Prior to accepting the honor, Spacey will participate in a public master class with the museum’s director, Domenico De Gaetano, and introduce a screening of one of his films.

“We are honored that such a prestigious guest as Kevin Spacey has chosen Turin and an institutional venue such as our museum for this welcome and long-awaited return,” Enzo Ghigo, president of the National Museum of Cinema, said in a statement, per Variety. “It is a privilege to host the master class of one of the greatest cinema and theater actors of our times.”

This event, tickets for which go on sale December 20, is slated for January 16, 2023. That’s five months before the June 6 start of Spacey’s trial in the UK, where he’s pleaded not guilty to four counts of sexual assault against three men and one count of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent. Last month, Spacey was cleared of liability in a $40 million sexual misconduct lawsuit brought forth by Anthony Rapp, the first person to publicly accuse him in the fall of 2017.

Spacey’s fall from grace coincided with the launch of #MeToo five years ago. After Rapp’s allegations, he was dropped by his talent agency and publicist, fired from his role in Netflix’s House of Cards, and cut from Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World. In August, a Los Angeles judge ruled that Spacey and his production companies must pay nearly $31 million to House of Cards producers for violating the professional behavior requirements of his contract by allegedly sexually harassing crew members, resulting in his ouster and monetary losses as the show creatively restructured around Robin Wright’s character. Spacey has appealed the ruling and denied the allegations that he sexually harassed House of Cards crew members.

Italy has proven something of a safe haven for Spacey. According to Variety, the actor toured Italy’s National Museum of Cinema while filming his upcoming return to acting in Franco Nero’s film L’uomo Che Disegnò Dio, or The Man Who Drew God. His last public performance was a 2019 reading of a poem titled “The Boxer” by Italian poet Gabriele Tinti outside of the National Roman Museum in Rome.
