Border Patrol fires non-lethal rounds at mob of migrants who tried to rush into US with with giant flags

US Border Patrol agents in Texas fired non-lethal projectiles at a mob of immigrants who tried to rush the border near El Paso with giant Venezuelan and Honduran flags.

Chaos broke out as a large group of immigrants who have been camped out just a few feet from the US-Mexico border tried to cross the river together, Border Patrol told The Post in a statement.

“One of the protesters assaulted an agent with a flag pole, at which time agents responded by initiating crowd control measures,” it said.

“These measures included the use of the authorized less-lethal force pepperball launching system.”

Video taken by bystanders showed Border Patrol agents firing the rounds at migrants as some run back through the river to Mexico.

Leading up to the pandemonium, dozens of Border Patrol agents had formed a line to try to deter them, reported the El Paso Times.

The immigrants are mostly Venezuelans who tried to cross into the US already, only to be returned to Mexico under a new agreement between the US and the Mexico.

The immigrants organized a march in Juarez, Mexico to demand entrance into the United States, according to the El Paso newspaper.

Since Oct. 13, the Biden Administration applied Title 42, a pandemic measure to expel immigrants from the US to Venezuelans, if they entered the country illegally at the Southern border. 

A record number of Venezuelans —189,000 — had crossed the southern border of the US in the fiscal year 2022 – as people fled from the country’s failing economy and unstable political system.  

Since that time, about 1,800 Venezuelans have been returned to Mexico, finding themselves penniless in Juárez, its Mexican sister city. 

Ejected migrants have been amassing on the Mexican side of the border, erecting a tent city while waiting for another chance to enter the US.
