Kanye West announces 30-day cleanse and ‘verbal fast’
Kanye West will be embarking on a 30-day cleanse and “verbal fast” in the coming weeks, following a heavy period of controversy, backlash and criticism.
The Donda rapper took to Twitter to make the announcement, sharing a handwritten post that revealed he would be abstaining from talking, drinking, sex and pornography.
“I’m taking a 30 day cleanse,” West, who also goes by Ye, wrote. “A verbal fast, no alcohol, no adult films, no intercourse. In God we praise, amen.”

West, 45, signed off by assuring fans that his Twitter account was “still lit”. He also added some text: “I’m not talking to nooobody for a month”.
Plenty of fans have supported the rapper’s decision, calling him a “legend”, but others have chosen to poke some fun.
“Is that a promise?” one person replied. One person was a little harsher.
“Can you go away forever please?” they wrote.

West’s announcement comes after a period of backlash following anti-semitic comments he made on October 9. The comments lead to West having his Instagram and Twitter accounts restricted.
West issued a half-apology for the comments, but received widespread criticism from celebrities and friends, and was consequently dropped by a number of his high-profile business partners, including Adidas, Balenciaga and his talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA)

In the past week, West has tried to make light of his losses, posting a meme to his Instagram page that read, “Ye has reportedly cut ties with Kanye West”.
“Had to cut ties bro,” he wrote in the caption.
